Fifty years ago, astronauts Joe Engle, Vance Brand and Joe Kerwin (shown here l-r during an earlier checkout of their spacecraft) began a week-long test of the Apollo command and service modules in the vacuum chamber at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston. Success of the Apollo 2TV-1 test was essential for Apollo 7.

Thank you. Another great image.
It brings to light the fact that these guys we know for Apollo-Soyuz, Skylab and shuttle missions were busy doing highly important work and contributing to the success of the earlier flights.
