Apollo 15 backup commander Dick Gordon prepares to enter the lunar module Falcon in the altitude chamber at the Kennedy Space Center during testing in March 1971. Backup lunar module pilot Jack Schmitt is already inside.

Would that be his training suit, or his primary suit before the stripes were added?
The training schedule has "run aborted O2 regulator failure" for the March 31 LM altitude chamber test with Gordon and Schmitt.

This was going to be the only chance Dick Gordon would ever have of walking on the Moon being backup commander of Apollo 15 as Apollos 18, 19 and 20 were cancelled on 02/09/70! I was privileged to meet him in the UK a few years ago and as you would expect, he was very charming!

What a great candid shot. Just what is Dick thinking...?

Is the story true about Dick pushing Jack out of the LMP position after the Sim guys 'failed' Dick's controls in an effort to have Jack make a landing?
