Apollo 14 lunar module pilot Ed Mitchell examines a moon rock he brought back from Fra Mauro, with mission commander Al Shepard looking over his shoulder. They are in the Lunar Receiving Laboratory at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston, about a week after their return from the moon in February 1971, together with command module pilot Stu Roosa (partially visible behind Mitchell). |

I had the great privilege of meeting Ed in the UK a few years ago and what a wonderful man! Very sad news that another great HERO has passed away! |
