Space Shuttle Challenger presents a ghostly image to a still camera aboard the German-built SPAS, which was deployed by the STS-7 crew in June 1983. The two spacecraft flew in formation for several hours and the resulting first photos of a Shuttle in space were quite a sensation at the time.

Note that Sally Ride positioned the RMS in the shape of the number 7, in honor of their STS-7 flight and mission patch. Their patch also has the RMS configured as a "7".

Dr. Ride talks about deploying the arm shaped like that in the current issue of Quest magazine. It seems the entire crew was involved.
