Shown at the NASA Flight Research Center in California are astronaut Rusty Schweickart (right) and Dr. James Roman, head of the center's Office of Biological Research. Schweickart spent eight days in a Gemini spacesuit (including his 29th birthday on October 25, 1964) for an extended evaluation of biomedical equipment. At FRC he made six flights in an F-104B Starfighter over a period of two days. He was then flown to Houston for a simulated mission in the Gemini simulator and he ended his long week with a simulated Gemini reentry in the centrifuge at Ames Research Center. Thanks to Tony Landis for the photo.

With all those flying space rocks in the news, it's very appropriate for you to have a picture of Rusty today.

Eight days in a suit! We forget the sacrifices these guys endured for the advancement of knowledge back when very little was known. Thanks Ed.
