Although it is past 2 a.m. on December 29, 1968, more than 2,000 people are on hand at Ellington Air Force Base near the Manned Spacecraft Center to welcome the Apollo 8 crew back home. Astronauts Bill Anders, Frank Borman and Jim Lovell had just flown to Houston from the pacific recovery area by way of Hawaii.

I assume that's Anders' daughter in front of him? My cousins lived right next door to the Anders family in upstate NY for many years and my cousin's son went to school with Anders' daughter. They still keep in touch.

All times are CT (US)
