To mark the end of the Space Shuttle program, I selected a series of photos showing two orbiters in one shot.
September 20, 2008: With two rainbows framing the Launch Complex 39 area in the early morning at KSC, Atlantis (foreground) sits on pad A and Endeavour on pad B with both rotating service structures retracted. For the first time since July 2001, two shuttles are on the launch pads at the same time. Endeavour is standing by at pad B for a possible rescue mission during Atlantis’ mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope, targeted to launch October 10.

Once again, thank you for sharing with us on collectSPACE. Maybe the double rainbows are a positive sign for the future?!
