Skylab 4 commander Gerry Carr combs the hair of his pilot Bill Pogue after water egress training in a water tank at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. They were preparing for the record-breaking mission aboard the Skylab space station from November 1973 to February 1974. In the background is the third crewmember, Ed Gibson.

I met Jerry Carr in VT a couple years ago. What a great guy. Signed my pilot log book for me without a hesitation.

Another great guy was there as well... Sy.

I was at Vermont a few years ago as well... don't forget Andrew Chaikin was there too! All three men were great to speak with.

Apollo 19: Haise-Pogue-Carr. And Skylab 4 if Apollo 19 had flown? Eisle-Gibson-McCandless?

I doubt it. Eisele was long gone and long out of favour to ever be considered for that. The prime candidates would probably have been Walt Cunningham (who was the original Skylab 2 backup CDR before retiring because he was assigned to a dead-end backup crew) or Rusty Schweickart. McCandless would probably be a good bet for replacing Pogue, though considering he was on the Skylab 2 backup crew.

Swigert/Gibson/Lind. My 2 cent guess.

Cunningham! I'm sorry for mistake, I want said Cunningham not Eisele!

For Swigert the problem was the Apollo 15 stamp case. So, if Swigert is out the more probable candidate is Cunningham (or Rusty if Walt leave before).

I like McCandless, but agree that Lind is maybe more probable.

So... Cunningham-Pogue-Lind?

All times are CT (US)
