Forty years ago, a remarkable year was coming to an end. Men had walked on the moon on two separate Apollo flights and preparations for the next lunar landing were well underway. In this 40th anniversary year I have attempted to relive the excitement that I felt as a 13-year-old in 1969, by posting only photos that were taken exactly 40 years ago. I hope I was able to share some of that excitement.

It was a well-chosen theme, and with so much material to work with, each week was fascinating. Thanks!

Ed, thank YOU so much for the time and effort in helping those of us old enough re-live the excitement of our first exploration of the Moon. And for those too young to remember - experience it as it happened.

After you take a well deserved rest, may I suggest a space shuttle retrospective to mark the end of that era for next year (or 2011).

all the best,
Tim
