Forty years ago today, President Richard Nixon welcomed the Apollo 11 astronauts back to earth aboard the USS Hornet. Inside the Mobile Quarantine Facility are (left to right) Neil Armstrong, Mike Collins and Buzz Aldrin. The Hornet’s chaplain is leading them in prayer. Collins later wrote that at this moment he was thinking: "Greatest week in the history of the world since the Creation? Jesus Christ!"

I just wonder whether the same thing will occur when the next astronauts return from the Moon?

A side note: Hornet's chaplain, John Piirto, seen next to President Nixon, was the stand-in for the President during the rehearsals prior to recovery. The book "Hornet Plus Three" has a picture of a smiling, laughing Piirto at the microphones during the dry-runs.
