Forty years ago today, Apollo 11 astronauts Armstrong and Aldrin performed a suited simulation of their planned EVA activities in Building 9 at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston. Armstrong can be seen here opening one of the sample return containers or ‘rock boxes’, as CapCom Owen Garriott at left is watching him.

Great pic Ed. I suppose that as one of the scientist astronauts, Owen Garriott had a keen interest to ensure that the moon rocks returned to Earth in top form.
