Forty years ago today, the crew of Apollo 9 was enroute from the recovery ship USS Guadalcanal to Houston following splasdown in the Atlantic Ocean the day before. Here they are departing Eleuthera Island in the Bahamas after a brief stopover. Left to right are Jim McDivitt, Dave Scott and Rustry Schweickart. Each astronaut was presented with flowers and a souvenir fishing net buoy. Ed Hengeveld |

Great photo which really captures the feel of the times. Which airport is this on Eleuthera, South Eleuthera or Governors Harbour? |

Great photo! Notice where they are, on the steps of another legend, the Grumman Gulfstream (now a Gulfstream GI)! I would have loved to have had that photo at Spacefest. Would be great to have them sign it and put it in my office. |
