This week’s ‘Photo of the week’ is the first in a series that I should have started a few months earlier, but better late than never. During the Apollo 11 anniversary year 2009, I want to post only photos that were taken exactly 40 years ago, give or take a few days. I vividly remember the excitement leading up to the first landing on the moon and I hope this series will capture some of those feelings. My own awareness of Project Apollo began with Apollo 8, so I’ll start my series with this picture of Anders, Borman and Lovell (left to right) posing in front of the mission simulator at KSC prior to a training session in mid-December 1968.
