Hard to tie the image to STS-107 and/or Columbia... But there aren't a lot of good onboard images (just checked NASA's web site). But Columbia is still my "favourite" bird. . Chris. |

Actually, the SILTS pod at the top of the vertical tail was unique to Columbia (added prior to STS 61-C, 1986, deactivated by not removed after STS-52, 1992). And, according to the company website, 107 was the only Columbia flight to carry the SPACEHAB (tm) module.------------------ John Charles Houston, Texas |

Good question that I hope Ed can answer. But it looks like a compressional fold (anticline) in sedimentary rocks. If I had to make a guess I'd guess somewhere near the Himalayan Mountains. I'm sure the crew had a great time viewing such terrain! |

The photo is STS107-E5712 and was taken on January 26, 2003. It shows the Altun mountains in China.Ed |
