The distant Moon symbolically looks down on the Mission Control Center in Houston on Christmas Eve 1968. At the moment this picture was taken, a live telecast was being received on MCC television monitors from the Apollo-8 spacecraft, which was orbiting the Moon some 238,857 miles away. An Apollo-8 TV-camera was photographing the lunar surface from an altitude of only 60 nautical miles. Merry Christmas everybody. Ed Hengeveld |
