Who are these three men, dressed in Apollo-1 spacesuits? They are not actors in a TV-series, although the two on the right look like Tom Paris and Harry Kim The photo was actually taken in 1966 and the suits are real, not movie props. The answer will follow… Ed Hengeveld

Actually the nametag says "large regular", referring to the size of the spacesuit.Ed |

Well a few answers are possible:1. These are technicians/engineers testing the suits ... 2. These are test crewmembers who did a ride in the vacuum chamber ... 3. Some movie actors genre 'Marooned' ? See: http://www.cloudster.com/Sets&Vehicles/Marooned/MaroonedTop.htm Philip

Is it the prime or backup crew for the 8-day thermal vacuum test of CSM-008 in Aug. 1966? |

I can at least partially answer that question. No, it is not the prime crew for the CSM-008 test. That crew was Ed Givens, Joe Kerwin, and an aerospace technician named Joe Gagliano. I guess there could have been a backup crew for this test, but never heard of one. That raises a question. Was there a backup crew for 2TV-1? |

The Givens, Kerwin, Gagliano crew was for the phase 2 test of CSM-008 in the autumn of 1966. The phase 1 crew was Donald Garett, Neil Anderson and Joel Rosenweig. The backup crew was Gagliano, William Anderson and Michael Lake. The test took place from Aug. 1 through the 9, 1966.

To be complete:CSM-008 ======= 1st manned test (1-9 Aug. 1966) crew: Donald A. Garrett Neil R. Anderson Joel M. Rosenweig backups: Joseph A. Gagliano William K. Anderson Michael K. Lake 2nd manned test (26 Oct. - 1 Nov. 1966) crew: Edward G. Givens Joseph P. Kerwin Joseph A. Gagliano no backups APOLLO 2TV-1 ============ 1st manned test (16-24 June 1968) crew: Joseph P. Kerwin Vance D. Brand Joe H. Engle no backups 2nd manned test (4-9 Sep. 1968) crew: Turnage R. Lindsey Lloyd Reeder Alfred H. Davidson no backups But the above photo has nothing to do with these vacuum chamber tests. I will post the answer in a day or so...
