Astronauts Bill Anders (left) and Frank Borman prepare for the crew compartment stowage review at Grumman for LM-4 in March 1968. At that time they were scheduled to fly on Apollo-9 later in the year, but during the summer their mission was switched with Apollo-8. At left is backup crewmember Buzz Aldrin. The vehicle used for this test was LM Test Article (LTA) 1, configured to resemble the LM-4 flight vehicle. Apollo-8 (without an LM) was launched exactly 37 years ago today.
