Astronauts Gordon Cooper (left) and Pete Conrad, the prime crew of Gemini-5, are standing near the open door of a C-130 aircraft flying near Laredo. They are preparing their cameras to take part in a series of visual acuity experiments to aid them in learning to identify known terrestrial features under controlled conditions.
