The STS-13 crew show they are not superstitious by adding a "1" to the number "3" of an M113 armored personnel carrier used at KSC for emergency training. Left to right are Ox van Hoften, Pinky Nelson, Bob Crippen, T.J. Hart and Dick Scobee. Because of the new numbering system their mission designation was subsequently changed to STS-41C.

I have always thought this was just coincidence of it changing from what would have been 13 to 41c.
