Wouldn't that require man-rating the Ares 5, and wouldn't that be rather needlessly expensive (given that the heavy-lift booster would otherwise be used only to launch the unmanned lunar lander)? Or am I missing something here (which is often the case)?

Oops, I read elsewhere that this would be an unmanned mission. Which makes sense....
