Laszlo Elak, who in 1977 was considered among four Hungarians for an Intercosmos Soyuz flight but was not selected in favor of Bertalan Farkas, has died at the age of 71, reports Űrvilág. At the time of the astronaut selection, he already had 1,000 flight hours. "He strives for maximum accuracy and demands from his subordinates," wrote his commander of the astronaut candidate in his characterization. |
