Morris Vivian Jenkins of Dallas, Texas, died March 15, 2016 at the age of 92.

He was born May 3, 1923, the only child of Charles Vivian Jenkins and Alice Rand Lintott Jenkins in Southampton, England. Morris served as a navigator for the Royal Air Force from Oct. 19, 1942 to Sept. 20, 1946 with overseas service in Canada and India. He worked as an aerodynamics engineer at Vickers Armstrong Supermarine in England from 1947 to 1956. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering in 1951.

Morris married Joan Mary Hayter on July 26, 1952 in Southampton. In October 1956, Morris moved to Milton, Ontario to work at AVRO Canada on the Arrow fighter jet. In February 1959, the contract for the Arrow was abruptly cancelled putting everyone out of work.

Two months later, Morris was one of 31 AVRO Canada engineers hired by NASA for the lunar missions program. He joined the Space Task Group at Langley Field, Virginia in April, 1959.

In 1961, the family moved to Seabrook, Texas when the Maned Spacecraft Center opened. Morris worked in the Mission Planning and Analysis Division (MPAD) during the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs. He led a Johnson Space Center effort to draw up plans for a manned Mars mission. During the shuttle program, Morris served as Chief of the Powered Flight Analysis Branch. He retired from NASA in 1984.

Morris and Joan and their children became naturalized citizens of the United States in 1964. After Morris and Joan retired, they moved to San Diego, California for several years before returning to Lago Vista, Texas.

Morris enjoyed golf and even made golf clubs for himself and Joan. He enjoyed sailing and passed on that passion to his children and grandchildren. Morris and Joan enjoyed traveling and spent several summer vacations in their RV in Colorado and New Mexico.

Morris is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joan, and by his son, Robert Neil (wife Denise) Jenkins of Dallas, Texas and daughter, Kay Vivienne Jenkins (husband Dennis Minor) of Tyler, Texas and five grandchildren Sherry (husband Tim) Maguire, Elizabeth Sifuentez, Graham Jenkins, James Jenkins and Sarah Jenkins, and four great grandchildren.
