I understand that Vance Brand was a USMC fighter pilot on active duty from 1953-57 and then a reservist until 1966. Does anyone know what is final rank was?

Nothing in NASA Biograghical Data lists Brand's military rank. Only that he served as a commissioned officer and naval aviator with U.S. Marine Corps 1953-1957. After release from active duty, served in MC reserve and Air National Guard jet fighter squadrons until 1964.

I know, this is why I asked. I can't seem to find that information. I am reorganizing my autograph collection in a large set of books and I create an information page for each person... one piece of info I use is their military rank. I was hoping I could figure it out.

Doug Hawthorne's book says that he was an Air Force reservist at the time of selection, and I came across a newspaper article from 1970 that referred to him as a major.

I have asked Vance this question in person when I met him and he told me that he was a Captain in the Marines. I hope this helps?
