RichieB16 Member Posts: 552 From: Oregon Registered: Feb 2003	posted 02-09-2015 11:15 AM Based on what I have read, on certain shuttle missions with more involved payloads, one mission specialist was designated the Payload Commander. For example, I know Jerry Ross was on STS-55. I am trying to find a list of all the missions with their respective payload commanders. Does anyone have one? Thanks.

Here are the first results for those missions: STS-42: Norman B. Thagard STS-50: Bonnie J. Dunbar STS-46: Jeffrey A. Hoffman STS-47: Mark C. Lee STS-56: C. Michael Foale STS-55: Jerry L. Ross STS-57: G. David Low STS-58: M. Rhea Seddon STS-61: F. Story Musgrave STS-59: Linda M. Godwin STS-65: Richard J. Hieb STS-64: Susan J. Helms (?) STS-68: Thomas D.Jones STS-66: Ellen Ochoa STS-63: Bernard A. Harris STS-67: Tamara E. Jernigan STS-73: Kathryn C. Thornton STS-75: Franklin R. Chang-Diaz STS-77: Andrew S. W. Thomas STS-78: Susan J. Helms As you might see, for STS-64 is a question mark behind the PC's name. Maybe someone can give an update for this specific missions. I also will look up the other missions up to STS-135.

Lee STS-83: Janice E. Voss-Ford STS-94: Janice E. Voss-Ford STS-89: Bonnie J. Dunbar STS-90: Richard M. Linnehan STS-91: Franklin R. Chang-Diaz STS-103: Steven L. Smith STS-99: Janice E. Voss-Ford STS-109: John M. Grunsfeld STS-107: Michael P. Anderson STS-125: John M. Grunsfeld The missions that supported the ISS assembly didn't normally have the position of Payload Commander because of the "lower complexity" of those missions. For the missions STS-85, STS-86 and STS-87 my mission data base is missing information on a crew position of a Payload Commander. Hopefully someone can give an update on the missing information.
