Being from Minnesota I was wondering who all in the Astronaut Corps (active and former) call the state their home or are associated with it. I was able to find the Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics (AEM), University of Minnesota that briefly mentions them. The webpage is dated, note that Karen Nyberg is listed as "candidate." |

I usually verify info from Wikipedia, but since I'm at work and don't have time to find the online version of NASA's astronaut biography booklet, these astronauts were born in Minnesota: - Fairmont: Dale Gardner — STS-8, STS-51-A
- Minneapolis: Robert D. Cabana — STS-41, STS-53, STS-65, STS-88
- Parkers Prairie: Karen L. Nyberg — STS-124, Soyuz TMA-09M
- St. Paul: Duane G. Carey — STS-109,
Heidemarie M. Stefanyshyn-Piper — STS-115, STS-126

While not an astronaut, it should be noted that Robert R. Gilruth was born in Nashwauk, MN, graduated high school in Duluth, and received a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Minnesota. |

Great! Thanks guys! My first autograph ever was when I was a kid and I wrote to George "Pinky" Nelson. I was featured in the local paper. I was thinking about trying to get the "all Minnesota" astronauts much like the "all Ohio" that Don Thomas shares. |

While Deke Slayton was from Wisconsin, he earned his bachelors degree in engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1949. |
