I'm pleased to announce that Wally Schirra has asked me to build an official "Wally Schirra Web Site". He and I have been talking about it for over a year and a half and it looks like it's going to happen. We plan to make this an audio/video intensive site. The first order of business is to spend a few days with Wally and a video camera - and we'd like YOUR input. I'd love to go into this taping armed with a bunch of questions from the cS community. I intend to set up an online questionairre form where you can submit anything you'd like me to ask him. In the meantime, feel free to send e-mail to me at divemaster@pobox.com with any questions you may want me to ask. Nothing is off limits. I would just like you to include your name, where you're from, your age group ["older than fire" is permissible] and how long you've been following the program along with your question. I will post a link to where to find the forms page in this topic as soon as I write it. Wally is very excited about the project, as am I, and I think this aspect can add a fun perspective to the site. Cheerz! Tracy

Is there any chance he'll be making anything available to sell via the site? Or of allowing mail-in autograph requests? |

We're not that far along yet. We're just doing preliminary groundwork for subject matter. I'm sure that Steve and Nolan will be more than happy to sell you something that Wally has signed at farthestreaches.com-tracy |

It's not difficult to get hold of his signature, but for people outside the US it's impossible to get something specific signed or to get something personalized unless you make a special arrangement with someone going to a US show he appears at. It's just a thought. As for selling stuff, Wally's in a unique position where he may have flown items from Mercury, Gemini and Apollo to offer! No-one can beat that! Anyway, I'm glad you persuaded him to start a site and I'm sure we're all looking forward to seeing the end result. |

We'll see how the evolution of this site turns out. Wally gave me the go ahead to ask for input about what you wanted to see and hear on the site. That's what I'm doing right now. Period. As for autographs, I'd be willing to bet that he's going to stick with Steve and Nolan for that aspect. I personally doubt that he'll ever offer to sign other types of items other than at an autograph show. However, I'm not speaking for the man, so you never know what he may or may not do on a whim.He hasn't discussed selling any flown items or memorabilia with me. Don't know if he will - don't know if he won't at this time. If you're looking for flown Apollo 7 items, they're available on another site. I'm going to bring ALL of your ideas and comments that you send to me via the online form to him whenever we decide our schedules coincide. Whatever will be will be. I'm just thrilled that he's looking for input from "us". Cheerz! Tracy

Tracy,In terms of what I'd like to see on Wally's web site.... A fuller biography than is posted on the NASA web site, stories and annecdotes from his Navy/NASA career and you might think about having some "other voices" stories from Dee O'Hara, Cece Bibby, Scott Carpenter, John Glenn, Bill Dana and Guenther Wendt. IMHO this type of material comes over very well and would be popular with most enthusiasts/collectors. I hope everything goes according to plan for you and I'll look forward to visiting Wally's site once you get it up and running. Regards, Derek Horne http://www.mach-buster.co.uk |

we are still accepting questions for the Wally Schirra web site. We've had plenty of very interesting questions and could use plenty more. However, we don't need any more "are you a turtle? questions.Keep those cards and letters comin' in, folks! http://wowiewebdesign.com/askwally/ -tracy
