Since they postponed Spacefest until next year and the Apollo astronauts are getting older, what do you think of the chances of their appearing at Spacefest, Space Rendezvous and mail-ins to Novaspace going forward?

Walt Cunningham, Charlie Duke and Fred Haise always seem faithful to the events. Rusty Schweikart has been to Space Rendezvous. I'm hoping Michael Collins and David Scott make an appearance again at Spacefest (or a Collins mail-in, also). Frank Borman is always faithful to Novaspace's yearly mail-in; Jim Lovell seems to be begging off signings (92 years old!) and Jim McDivitt seems only intermittently available at Novaspace. Tom Stafford seems to take mail-ins but hasn't been to events.

I know they are older and slowing down. They have definitely been more than available over the years! Curious to hear everyone's thoughts.

Rusty Schweickart previously said that the November 2018 Space Rendezvous was his last autograph show or signing appearance.

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if we've seen the last of Apollo astronauts making public appearances. The cancellation of the Apollo 13 anniversary events felt like a final end to it all. And the next anniversary with a surviving astronaut (Dave Scott) is over a year away. If we're lucky, one or two of them might give a speech at an event. But with the pandemic, I think the days of getting a handshake and a photo are over.

But I hope I'm wrong. And I hope we could get at least one more mail-in signing. I got a photo signed by Frank Borman in his last Novaspace signing, and I was desperately hoping to add Lovell. For years, I was too shy to attend things like SpaceFest. But over the years, the guest list got thinner and thinner, and I realized what a big mistake it was. And now, I think every opportunity is gone forever.

The events at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, Cosmosphere, INFINITY Science Center and Cradle of Aviation Museum have been rescheduled for the fall, with the continued participation of the astronauts, as of today. But none of those events are autograph opportunities.
