I'm delighted to see that Gen. Collins has agreed to another signing. I wasn't on the Novaspace email list for the March 2004 event, but this time I'm jumping on the opportunity to have my copy of "Liftoff" signed and personalized.

As a Novaspace signing newbie I have a question: should I expect to receive an email confirmation after my book arrives in Tucson? It shipped about a week and a half ago.

Kudos to Kim for arranging a signing with my favorite astronaut author. This is a book that will have a special place on my shelves.

I have sent a few things and I never expected to receive an e-mail confirmation from Nova Space and I never did. I always purchase a delivery confirmation number through the USPS for .45$

When the book comes back from Nova Space you will probably have to sign for it but that protects everyone.

I had Michael sign my copy of Carrying the Fire last year and I sent him copies of his other 3 books for this signing.

Thanks for the quick reply, Mike.

In retrospect, getting a delivery confirmation number would have been the best thing to do. I didn't think of it at the time, but certainly will when I next ship something.

After dithering for far too long I expressed off Carrying the Fire for Gen. Collins to sign. Looking forward to getting a signature from him that I don't have to worry about.

When I spoke to Novaspace they said Gen. Collins was signing last Friday. Still no pics up on their site though. Hope all went well.

Hi Mark

Good to know! I wasn't sure when at the end of June it was. Can't wait to get my item back now!

In fact, a report is up! http://www.novaspace.com/AUTO/SIGNINGS/Collins2005.html

All the best
Eilis

I didn't send any items in for this signing, although I had him sign my copy of "Carrying the Fire" last time around. I really enjoyed reading Kim's report and looking at the photos. Even a casual reading of Collins's book makes it obvious that he would be a very interesting conversationalist. What an intelligent man and a great writer! Sorry that he said he didn't have another book in him.

Received my Carrying the Fire back from Novaspace today.

Interesting that there's also a flag test for Collins!

My copy of Liftoff arrived today. The box looked as if it had been kicked back to Colorado from Novaspace, but the careful packing kept the book flawless.

Great job, Kim!

Received my Collins's back today. Excellent service as with the Young signing. The email confirmations of item arrival and dispatch add a very professional touch to an already exemplary service.

I just received back my NASA lunar surface photograph neatly and clearly signed by Gen. Collins.

It was packed in a plastic sleeve, between 2 cardboard sheets, between 2 thick plastic mailers, and on top of all of this was a sheet of Plexiglas!! Talk about indestructable packing!

Many thanks to Kim and Sally for arranging these signings and for the prompt return of my autographed photo. The signings are win-win-win situations (for collectors, the astronauts, and Novaspace).

(With Borman and Lovell coming up, any chance of a future Anders signing?)

I asked them the same question and received no response. Does that mean something? I doubt it.

Never count Novaspace out. They have their critics, but they've certainly produced what many felt impossible.

Thanks to Kim and Sally Poor for an exceptional Collins signature on my photos.

More importantly, I think Kim just gave us more info on Collins autograph than I have ever seen! What a great wealth of info about this astronaut's signature. I hope someone can make a "resources" link for it on cS.

I noticed on my Collins autograph from last year he signed "Mike" but this years autograph is signed "Michael." Anyone else have this same difference. Was there a reason he changed or did he sign certain ways on specific items?

Gen Collins signed my item "Michael Collins" as well. My inscription is "to Michael.." so I figured that's why he signed his full name.

I requested "Michael" and got "Michael" - and very nicely too on my two completion items!
Another outstanding Novaspace event. Can't wait to get my Borman items out.

Yeah, I know he sometimes signs Mike so I specifically requested Michael on the book (to match the author statement). He complied.

I may be wrong here but I recall seeing somewhere that Kim asked Mike to sign everything "Michael" unless otherwise requested. It worked out fine for me.............

Regards,

Rick.
