Amazing Apollo 14 flown backpack strap as part of RR Auction's Autographs and Artifacts Auction, beginning May 24, 2019.

I don't know whose this is, but I'm sure Leon Ford had either this and one of Pete Conrad's or both of Pete Conrad's straps. I'm waiting for my lottery numbers to come up then I'm adding loads to my collection, lol.

Just for the record and for provenance purposes, the original owner of Conrad's twin PLSS backpack straps was Ken Havekotte more than 25 years ago.

Many years afterwards, one of the straps had been sold to a Georgia dealer. The new space dealer, soon after he had acquired it from Ken, sold it to Leon Ford.

The second backpack strap, several years later, was eventually sold to Leon by Ken.

Thanks for the info Ken, I thought misremembered Leon having Mitchell's strap and you have confirmed this.

Looking on the internet archive site at Leon's old website I can now see Leon had Mitchell's colour camera calibration target. I knew he had something special from Mitchell's lunar surface time.

Just for clarification purposes, astronaut Mitchell identifies the subject strap as a "lower right strap" when in fact it is an upper right strap.

All times are CT (US)
