Nebraska By Heart is a public art project celebrating the state's sesquicentennial. Nearly 90 heart-shaped statues that were displayed across Nebraska will be auctioned on Oct. 6 to benefit the artists and two charities, Lead Up and the Sadie Dog Fund.

One of the hearts honors Clay Anderson, Nebraska's first astronaut. "Dreams Become Destiny" (also known as "Space Heart") was created by artist Roberta Barnes.

The culmination of Nebraska by Heart will take place October 5th and 6th [at Haymarket Park]. The public viewing day on October 5th will be a festive, family-friendly atmosphere. Food will be available from 11:30am-2pm and from 5:30pm-8pm. On October 6th, all of the hearts will be auctioned off.
