The LR-11 Rocket Engine (Lot 30) is a well used and much fired engine used on North American Aviation X-15 Rocket Plane. Nozzle and combustion chamber show scoring and scorching from 6,000 degree Fahrenheit temperature of burning of Liquid Oxygen and Ethanol propellants. This engine was the type used on Scott Crossfield's flights up to 2,500 mph or Mach 3.2 and 100,000 foot plus altitudes. Another highlight from this auction is Lot 55, Apollo 1 S/C 012 Spacecraft Key presented to Mission Commander Gus Grissom in its original special leather plush presentation case. Top of the case has a 'spacecraft 012' metal plaque added. This symbolic ignition key is unique and important piece of Apollo 1 Memorabilia. Similar keys were presented to Edward White II and Roger Chaffee, the other two crew members who also perished in the Apollo 1 tragedy.
