Bummer, Mike.I'm always a bit concerned w/ electronic and Internet bidding; nothing like this yet for me but there are a lot of moving parts there. Though it may not help in the end, I'll often try to do screen grabs to paint the (apparent) record of bidding. |

I had a similar experience with Regency-Superior. I "won" a lot but then it didn't show up in my list - I immediately called their auction hot-line and was told between the time the auctioneer "hit close" and the "system actually closed the lot" an Internet bid came in and that bid won the lot. I said since I didn't have a chance to counter the bid the lot should be reopened - response "so sorry - you lose." |

I had an opposite experience with Written Word.I had bid on a piece and got a message I was outbid. I later get an invoice showing the item. It would not have been a big deal, but I went on to bid on something else thinking I had not spent the money on that piece. |

I'm not laying blame anywhere, I've heard many stories of internet lag and other weird stuff; this is out of Twilight Zone because I swear I pre-bid a day or two before, then watched as no one bid live when it was on floor, and then boom, done. But my bid history shows I didn't bid.I even posted in this thread about being surprised I got a beta for about the price of Buzz's signature. I'll live. Not an irreplaceable item, but next time I think I'll try a back-up form of bidding.

Does anyone know what happened to the Lovell Apollo 13 activation checklist that recently was reported as sold for over $300k? I bought an item post auction and noticed they updated the price results and included my purchase, but the cover item – the Lovell checklist result is no longer there or the item shown in the archives as a sold item. Problem with the sale? Any clue as to why it's no longer a sold item? |

Likely a question of provenance or title (or gasp - artifact damage subsequent to the auction). Given that it took at least two aggressive bidders to drive to that price point, if the principle buyer defaulted assume an opportunity to purchase would have been extended to the next highest bidder. |

I've e-mailed Heritage's head of PR asking for an explanation, although as it is a holiday weekend, I don't expect I'll hear back until next week... quote: Originally posted by SpaceAholic: Likely a question of provenance or title (or gasp - artifact damage subsequent to the auction).
I think it might be too early to label any explanation as "likely." Let's hear what Heritage has to say. |

I've noticed that the Apollo 9 LM ID plate is now no longer listed as sold as well. Robert, thanks for checking with HA as to why the Apollo 13 checklist is no longer sold. |

For Heritage's and NASA's replies, please see the article, NASA inquiry halts sale of $388,375 Apollo 13 flown checklist, other astronaut artifacts and its discussion thread. |

The Sunday Maine Telegram carried a story today from The Orlando Sentinel on this issue and quotes Robert several times, calling him "widely considered a guru on space memorabilia." Kind of like Neil being referred to as the czar of his spacecraft! |
