45th Space Wing, 920th Rescue Wing hold astronaut recovery demo

The 45th Operations Group's Detachment 3 and 920th Rescue Wing held an astronaut recovery demonstration March 14, 2016, along the Banana River, west of Patrick Air Force Base, Fla.

The demonstration involved Air Force Guardian Angel Airmen and aircraft of the 920th Rescue Wing to showcase aspects of safe rescue operations. Airmen from Detachment 3 coordinate astronaut capsule rescue and recovery and train personnel worldwide to ensure the Department of Defense is ready to support NASA's human space endeavors.
