According to Xinhua, Turkey is now starting liquid rocket engine trials to produce a space rated micro-sat rocket launcher by 2025.
"I would like to announce the start of the first space trials of domestically developed liquid-propellant rocket engine technology," he said at the opening ceremony of local defense company Roketsan's Satellite Launch, Space Systems and Advanced Technologies Research Center and Explosive Raw Material Production Facility.
To me this sounds like a prestige project.

Does anyone have any idea where the Turks would attempt to build a launch site? In theory they could launch north across the Black Sea, but given Russia's de facto control of the Crimea, a launch north from Turkey for the most part would mean dropping a rocket stage on Russia, something that, to put it mildly, would not go over well.

Contrariwise the Turks could fire a rocket south across the Mediterranean, but that would mean dropping a rocket stage on Egypt. Does anyone else have any suggestions?
