Progress MS-12 Cargo Craft Racing Toward Space StationCarrying almost three tons of food, fuel and supplies for the International Space Station crew, the unpiloted Russian Progress MS-12 cargo spacecraft launched on Wednesday (July 31) at 8:10 a.m. EDT (1210 GMT or 5:10 p.m. Baikonur time) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
The resupply ship reached preliminary orbit and deployed its solar arrays and navigational antennas as planned. Following a two-orbit rendezvous, the Russian cargo spacecraft will dock to the orbiting laboratory at 11:35 a.m. (1535 GMT).
Progress MS-12 will remain docked at the station for five months before departing in December for its deorbit into Earth's atmosphere.
