Roscosmos has announced a new stage of cosmonaut recruitment, director Dmitry Rogozin told reporters on Friday (May 31). "We have announced a new stage of recruitment. These are our astronauts that will work on a new manned spacecraft, including those who will take part in future space missions to distant destinations," he said.Earlier, Head of Russia's Cosmonauts Training Center Pavel Vlasov told TASS that the astronaut selection procedure would start in 2019. Roscosmos executive director of manned programs Sergey Krikalev informed that the space agency plans to recruit teams of five or six people. |

Roscosmos has completed its latest recruitment for the cosmonaut team that began on June 3, 2019. Due to the limitations caused by the coronavirus pandemic, a decision was taken to admit those filing an incomplete set of documents before June 1, 2020 to the contest in case they provide the missing documents until the end of June.Since the beginning of the contest and as of May 31, 2020, the contest committee has received 1,404 applications with 156 contenders filing the full set of documents (among them there are 123 men and 33 women). During the extramural stage until June 30, 2020, after six meetings the contest committee has reviewed over 90% contenders. At the time of publication, 28 contenders (3 women among them) received an invitation for the in-person admission stage. |

Roscosmos, Russia's federal space corporation, revealed the results of its latest recruitment on Thursday (Jan. 28). The campaign, which began on June 3, 2019, ended Wednesday after at least a month delay due to the coronavirus pandemic. "The winners are Sergey Irtuganov, Alexander Kolyabin, Sergey Teteryatnikov and Harutyun Kiviryan," Roscosmos announced on its website on Thursday. "In the near future, they will take general space training course for the next two years." |
