This thread is intended for comments and questions about the Soyuz MS-07 mission.

Soyuz MS-07 will launch to the International Space Station with Anton Shkaplerov of Roscosmos, Norishige Kanai of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and Scott Tingle of NASA.

Among the items launching with the Soyuz MS-07 crew to the space station are a flag for the Worldskills 2019 competition being held in Kazan, Russia and a puck and a miniature Gagarin Cup, the trophy for the winner of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). (Photo credit: Roscosmos)

Was there a reason they did not do the same day docking?

The four-orbit, six-hour rendezvous is only available if the orbital mechanics support such on the given launch date. In this case, the launch was originally targeted for Dec. 27, but was moved earlier to Dec. 17 to avoid those on the ground having to work over the Christmas holiday.
