Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about PTK NP, also called a four-man Soyuz?

PTK NP is now known as "Federation" (or Federatsiya) and is intended to replace Soyuz as Russia's crewed spacecraft in the 2023 timeframe. It also Roscosmos' answer to Orion, with early plans for crewed missions to lunar orbit around 2027.
More can be read about the design, development and timeline at Russian Space Web.

As one who is captivated by complex analog/discrete digital astrionic components employed in earlier manned capsules, starting with Soyuz TMA and following up with the Federation (as well as Orion) with all interface functions collapsed to simple representation on what are essentially commercially available flat panel displays, there is becoming much less of interest in these next gen spacecraft to collect!

Indeed. Many of the internal furnishings and finishings in some of the new spacecraft have a formless melted plastic look that don't seem to have the character and recognition of earlier spacecraft. You can tell the PTK's designers are trying to hang on to a sense of continuity more so than their Western counterparts in this area.
Regarding the displays and controls, I'd feel safer in one if there were a few dozen hard wired toggle switches as overrides.

Anyone know the base diameter? Any other dimensions?

I haven't seen dimensions released for Federatsiya, but as it is intended to launch on the Soyuz 5 (Sunkar) booster, it may be limited to a 13 foot (4.1 meter) diameter.
