RSC Energia release
Expedited flight profile for Russian vehicles rendezvous with the ISS has been patented

Rocket and Space Corporation (RSC) Energia has patented an expedited six-hour flight profile for the rendezvous of both manned and unmanned cargo transportation spacecraft with the International Space Station (ISS), which had been in use since 2012.

The expedited rendezvous and docking profile is one of the most outstanding inventions of RSC Energia for which it has taken patents over the last several years.

The title of the patent is "A method for controlling the motion of an active space vehicle to be docked with a passive space vehicle". Its author is an employee of the Corporation Rafail MURTAZIN.

As reported by Thomson Reuters, from 2010 to 2014 RSC Energia has recorded 103 patents and became the second company in terms of these numbers among European companies engaged in the development of space technologies.

"Altogether, over the period of 2010 - 2014 we received 276 patents, in this year we received 33 patents. In this case we are talking about patents referenced under the International Patent Classification as "Space Flight; Space Vehicles and their Equipment", - explained the RSC Energia Intellectual Property Department.

Among other RSC Energia's inventions that can be counted as significant is also an original version of a landing device that uses a nanomaterial in its design. The aim of the invention is to improve motion stability during landing of the reentry vehicle of the new-generation advanced transportation spacecraft, to reduce g-loads on the crew and pressure on the returned cargoes.

Specialists of the Corporation develop and put to use innovative systems for manned and unmanned spacecraft. There is a steady progress in the implementation of the project of the new-generation advanced transportation spacecraft, which is a manned spacecraft intended, among other things, for missions to the Moon. RSC Energia's inventions are regularly included into the Russia's top 100 inventions.

The Corporation has in place a Program for Innovation-driven Growth for the period of 2011-2020, one of the most important objectives of which is to develop and put on the market new-generation products, to introduce innovative technologies and engineering solutions into Corporation's manufacturing activities. All the above projects constitute a part of this Program.
