Does anyone have a source on the web for pictures of the inside of the actual Sputnik and information relating to the electronics/equipment inside the sphere

Anyone know why there was a difference in the length of the respective antennas, was it due to different frequencies

Sputnik's (PS-1's) famous beeps were heard on two frequencies (20 and 40 Megahertz).

I don't know the equation for transmission frequency versus antenna size, but this would seem to be logical.

By the way, the RGANTD Russian Scientific and Technical archives site has some great diagams of Sputnik, and I have seen an actual printed board from the inside on a site from a Japanese journalist.

The RGANTD photos and diagrams Kyra mentions are, I believe, here: 1 | 2 | 3

The photos from the Japanese journalist will be reprinted on collectSPACE this upcoming week as part of the conclusion our countdown of the Top Ten Sputniks.
