An important quarter-century anniversary for Belgium's first astronaut. Between 24 March and 2 April 1992, Belgian astronaut and scientist Dirk Frimout took part as a payload specialist on the STS-45 mission aboard space shuttle Atlantis. Dirk Frimout made history as the first Belgian in space, but also five of the 12 instruments [onboard] was developed by BISA-Belgium. |

How so? Up til the admin change, Bolden and Sullivan signed by mail. Lichtenberg did a presentation within the past five years and Leestma was at the Atlantis dedication. Frimout signs by mail. That leaves Foale and Duffy, whom I believe also did a presentation within the past five years. |

There were two lithos. One full crew and common. The other was just Sullivan, Frimout, Lichtenburg and Foale... the "science crew" 8x10 in blue flight suits. |

At least for Belgium and The Netherlands, it looks like commemorative events are planned during World Space Week in October 2017, celebrating 25 years of STS-45 and 15 years of Soyuz TMA-01. Frimout plans to be present at the Space Day event at Noordwijk Expo. |
