Per NASA (via Spaceflight Now): quote: Humidity in the Vehicle Assembly Building is interfering with routine work on shuttle Discovery, further postponing the ship's move to launch pad 39B. NASA says rollout will happen Wednesday morning at the earliest. An agency spokeswoman says the humidity is delaying thermal protection system work, specifically tile bonding, forcing Discovery's extended stay inside the 52-story facility. Roll to the pad could start as early as 2 a.m. EDT (0600 GMT) Wednesday, if weather and work schedules permit.

Tile work is done, and things are apparently still on track for Wednesday morning roll-out. http://spaceflightnow.com/shuttle/sts114/status.html ------------------ http://allthese worlds.hatbag.net/space.php "America's challenge of today has forged man's destiny of tomorrow." - Commander Eugene Cernan, Apollo 17 Mission, 11 December 1972 |

Small delay to 12:15, according to Florida Today & C. Kridler. VAB doors have been open this morning ready to go, she reports.Rollout apparently live on NASA TV, albeit slighlty lower quality. FL Today also has front page links to watch this medium quality video live. Also a front page link to a small, excellent "ready for rollout" gallery. www.floridatoday.com [This message has been edited by capejeffs (edited April 06, 2005).] |

Alright, make that 2:15 eastern. Is that your final answer, need a lifeline? I don't know. No more live NASA TV though. |

Correction, on NASA TV. Rollout of Discovery for USA'S RETURN TO FLIGHT appears to be underway, we're going down to CCAFS gate! www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html |

http://www.local10.com/news/4352820/detail.html Delayed again....perhaps indefinately..possibly a good thing since the fundemental issues with fragility of the TPS system and foam coatings on the ET dont appear to have been resolved...... ------------------ Scott Schneeweis URL: http://www.SPACEAHOLIC.com/ |

I couldn't open the link you posted, Scott, but I'm pretty sure it predates Capejeffs info. Good site for up-to-the-minute-info: http://spaceflightnow.com/shuttle/sts114/status.html ------------------ http://allthese worlds.hatbag.net/space.php "America's challenge of today has forged man's destiny of tomorrow." - Commander Eugene Cernan, Apollo 17 Mission, 11 December 1972 |

November25, you better stop secretly wanting a delay (though it is possible you might get it). Leroy Chiao's photos are fantastic, great tip Nasamad, thanks! One nasa photo shows the press area, I believe from the roof of Launch Control. It shows the pads in the distance. I wonder what the concrete structures are to the left. http://www-pao.ksc.nasa.gov/kscpao/images/large/05pd0604.jpg As for general coverage, I still say that Florida Today .com is best.BUT WE WERE HOPING FOR more personal photos of all this, of this experience. Personally, we didn't see rollout much better than Leroy Chiao, from the south gate of CCAFS by KSC! Hazy conditions, didn't bring optics -- but we did get to see her. When the fast moving clouds occasionally broke in early afternoon, we saw that bright orange and the white of the great vehicle almost become luminescent. AND WE CHEERED DISCOVERY ON. |
