"Woman in Motion: Nichelle Nichols, Star Trek and the Remaking of NASA," a new documentary from director Todd Thompson, will open in U.S. movie theaters for one night only on Feb. 2, 2021, from Fathom Events.
In 1977, with just four months left, NASA was struggling to recruit scientists, engineers and astronauts for their new Space Shuttle Program. That is when Nichelle Nichols, Star Trek's Lt. Uhura, challenged them by asking the question, "Where are my people?"

With NASA's backing, she embarked on a national PR blitz, recruiting 8,000 of the nation's best and brightest, including the trailblazing astronauts who became the first African American, Asian and Latino men and women to fly in space. This is her — and their — story.

Following the feature presentation, fans will be treated to an exclusive behind the scenes documentary about the making of "Woman in Motion," which includes additional interviews with Nichols and other notable guests from the documentary, deleted scenes and additional footage from the making of the film.

In addition to Nichols, "Woman In Motion" features Neil deGrasse Tyson, George Takei, Pharrell Williams, Martin Luther King III, Al Sharpton, Vivica A. Fox, Walter Koenig, Rod Roddenberry, Michael Dorn, Guy Bluford, Charles Bolden, Ivor Dawson, Frederik Gregory and Benjamin Crump.

Per TrekMovie, there are no details yet on international screenings, or home video or a streaming release for "Woman in Motion."

"Woman in Motion" will stream exclusively on Paramount+ beginning June 3.
In honor of Nichelle Nichols (Lt. Uhura) and the new documentary Woman In Motion, which tells the story of how Nichols used her visibility to recruit women and people of color to NASA's space program in the '70s and '80s, a few of Star Trek's leading women unite. Stars Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek: Discovery), Michelle Hurd (Star Trek: Picard), Dawnn Lewis (Star Trek: Lower Decks), and Isa Briones (Star Trek: Picard) join host Mica Burton to share how Nichols inspired them personally, and the significance of the work they do in Star Trek carrying her legacy forward.
