Here was a short 1963 newsreel film with Dennis the Menace promoting NASA's Junior Astronaut campaign to sell US Savings Stamps and Bonds. It starts out complimenting the school children of Houston who purchased the most Jr. Astronaut Stamps the previous year. There are a few interview segments with the infamous Colonel John "Shorty" Powers promoting the astronaut stamps and bonds.
There is some nice footage of Scott Carpenter's Aurora 7 Mercury mission and an interesting twist to the end of his mission.
Quoting the narrator, "The helicopter rescue was quick, efficient. The life raft was dropped. The pickup gave Scott Carpenter his one real moment of worry as he was dumped in the water before being pulled up to safety."
