The NFL has announced that on Saturday, April 29 astronauts on the International Space Station and at Space Center Houston will announce draft picks for the first time from space. From the Houston Texans:
The final day of the draft kicks off with two picks from Space Center Houston. From the International Space Station, astronaut Peggy Whitson will introduce the selection. Back on Earth, retired astronaut Scott Kelly will make the live announcement from Space Center Houston, joined by TORO and the Houston Texans cheerleaders.
Whitson broke the record for cumulative time in space by a U.S. astronaut when she surpassed 535 days on April 24. Kelly, an avid Texans fan, was part of the first-ever one-year mission aboard the International Space Station which landed last March.
Fans can view the Day 3 pick announcements on NFL Draft live platforms, including NFL.com, the NFL Mobile from Verizon app, NFL Now, the NFL app on Xbox One and Windows 10, and Yahoo! Sports, as well as on ESPN. NFL Network will also feature select picks live on NFL Network Draft programming.
