Chanel debuted its Fall-Winter 2017/18 collection at Paris Fashion Week with a full-scale simulated rocket launch inside the Grand Palais museum on Tuesday (March 7). The Chanel collection includes star and spacesuit-print fashions.

Fashion designer René Mejía shared on Twitter a complete view of the launch:

Karl Lagerfeld interviewed French astronaut Thomas Pesquet on board the International Space Station to research his space-themed fashion line, reports Women's Wear Daily.
"I am very flattered that Karl Lagerfeld draws inspiration from space for his collections," Pesquet said. "Thankfully he did not draw inspiration from astronauts' outfits, because obviously here, we tend to wear European Space Agency polo shirts and pants with Velcro fastenings, which is not that great.

"But it's good. It means space makes people dream, that people are interested in exploration and science, and that's a good thing, because we are doing this for them. We don't do this for fun, but to be useful to society, at the end of the day," he added.

Asked if he would like to trade places with Pesquet, Lagerfeld demurred. "No, I think it's a little late [for that]. And the training is terrifying, on top of which I only speak four languages, and he must speak six, so you see, it's not enough," he said.

I would imagine they could have launched a real rocket using a mixture of Chanel No 5 and liquid oxygen. The exhaust plume would smell a bit better than the shuttle SRBs.

Chanel V + LOX = "Chanel Ignition" - the explosive new ethereal essence.

Also available in the test range is "Chanel Ignition de Nuit" for those hot nights by the ocean.

The nose of Chanel, Olivier Polge, had some reservations when he discovered the sillage only lasted 9 minutes, but the basenotes are amazing!

Tom Jones gives an insight into Plume Power here.
