For those outside the UK, the video can be viewed here on Creativity's website.
Agency AMV BBDO tracked down some NASA archive material in which Buzz Aldrin and fellow astronaut Mike Collins banter about how much "oatmeal" he ate on Apollo 11. The ad, directed by Tom Merillion at HLA, features Aldrin, now 86, watching original footage of the mission, recalling the beauty of seeing the Earth from space, and inspiring the "next generation of explorers." According to the agency, Aldrin himself had never heard the original clip before.

Very nice — you'd think the country that launched him would have such a commercial...

Excellent commercial. Thank you for sharing. I also enjoy listening to the Gulf Oil/Clancy Bros. commercial that played during the Apollo missions.

Is the implication, then, that Buzz ate Quaker Oats the morning he walked on the moon? And by extension, if so, could this be construed as a NASA endorsement for Quaker Oats, even though Aldrin is no longer an active astronaut?

The commercial does not mention that the oatmeal on board Apollo 11 was made by Quaker Oats, nor does it mention NASA. In fact, they went to the extra step of digitally obscuring the NASA logo in the suit-up scenes.

So, at best, it is endorsement by association, but that would be an assumption by the viewer.

For those interested, the development and requirements of food for Apollo can be found here. Oatmeal is listed as one of several breakfast foods on page 31.
