Can you imagine being a high school student and having your science experiment ideas launched to the International Space Station? We want to do just that for some hard working students who participated in Go For Launch! at various locations across the country.
Go For Launch! is a 3-day program where local students work with an astronaut (for the whole time!) and other space and STEM professionals to ignite their interest and cultivate their passion in STEM through the use of space. The students work in teams on a variety of projects to develop better leadership, teamwork and communication skills. As a team, they must define and design an experiment that they would like to see tested in space.
The teams at each individual event compete against each other and a winner is selected from that event. This event winner's experiment is competed against others in the same division winner and the overall division winner has their experiment launched to the International Space Station (ISS) to be conducted.
I witnessed and saw first hand how hard these kids worked and what energy they brought. Higher Orbits is worth the support.
