Lorne Bell, global correspondent for the Boston Globe, has an article in the paper today profiling the market for space memorabilia. The piece featured collector Larry McGlynn and including comments from Bobby Livingston at RR Auction, astronaut Tom Stafford and myself, representing collectSPACE. For most collectors, finding, documenting, and buying space memorabilia is more than a financial investment — it's a way to preserve history, recall a time when horizons seemed limitless, and rekindle dreams of adventures."It's how we tell the story," McGlynn said of collecting. "It's researching the piece. The '60's were such a time of human exploration, and we don't do that anymore." |

Great article by all involved in capturing the essence of our hobby. Certainly hits the nail on the head for me. Amazing collection Larry! My eyes grew bigger and my smile wider the further I read it. |

Robert, thanks for sharing! Great article too! In some of my correspondences to fellow collectors and sellers of space artifacts I mention that I'm always interested in the history and understanding more of the object. I've started to document my collection of various space items photographically to mainly catalog what I have so I don't buy the same thing. I plan on doing deep dives into at least the coins/medallions and hardware. While doing this I will wrap in the email correspondences from sellers that were connected some way to the space program and item. A definite work in progress, but would like to get feedback when finished. |

This is a great article, and it's encouraging to see that the paper emphasizes space artifact collecting as "...a way to preserve history, recall a time when horizons seemed limitless, and rekindle dreams of adventures." Larry, you have some great stuff! |

I think we, as collectors, finally caught a break with a well known large city newspaper. The writer wrote a smart well balanced article on the hobby and its collectors without labeling us as demented hoarders as one national publication did recently. Lorne Bell and his editor did a good job in answering some of the bigger questions in the hobby. Robert had an excellent quote about the changing relationship between museums and collectors. They found me through an article on a framing gallery that framed "Geno's Jock." "The Last Jock on the Moon!" |
