I'm a bit of a rock hound, and recently acquired a polished round (slab) of Oregon 'Hampton Butte' petrified wood from a lapidarist in California.
To me the sample was quite evocative of space-based imagery of Earth, specifically river delta areas.
For comparison, a satellite photo of the Yukon River Delta in Alaska (photo credit SPL/Barcroft Media, via The Telegraph) is shown next to a section of the entire ~12" petrified wood round of the first image.

That is amazing! The instant the photo came up on my screen, my mind thought "river delta." The colors and patterns are just dead on.
